FAMFEST

FAMFEST’s latest event was all about celebrating the efforts and sacrifices made by the ‘Windrush Generation’ most commonly associated with it’s journey back from the caribbean. Being a descendant from grandparents from that generation, I felt obliged to pay homage, by using my typical character style to represent my grandfather!

The slideshow below gives you a rough idea of how my process usually works when making a mural, from the sketch to the wall.

Initial Sketch

A quick pencil sketch of my initial idea, with inked outlines, to pick out the best lines.

Digital Inking

After taking a picture of my initial sketch, I have used Procreate to digitally make outlines, so that it can be coloured, in reference to the annotation on paper

Mock Up

After digitally colouring my artwork, I’ll use a photo of the workspace, in this case the wall, and scale up my artwork to get a clearer idea of how the artwork will exist in that space.

Mural

This is the end result of the process, applying the artwork to the wall, using spray paint.
